How long should a furnace last?
Most residential furnaces run fifteen to twenty years with regular maintenance. Past that, repairs tend to arrive more often and cost more each time, which is usually the point where replacement starts making better financial sense.
Is it worth repairing an old furnace, or should I replace it?
It depends on the failure and the age. A cheap part on a ten year old system is an easy repair. A major component on a system near the end of its life is money spent on something you will replace anyway. We will give you both numbers and let you decide.
Why is my furnace blowing cold air?
Common causes include a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter, a tripped limit switch from restricted airflow, or a thermostat set to run the fan continuously. Several are inexpensive fixes, which is why it is worth diagnosing before assuming the worst.
